Kalki 2898 AD wins state's top honor at Gaddar Telangana Film Awards

Kalki 2898 AD won big during recent award ceremony

The first edition of the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards was recently held on May 29 by the Telangana government and honoured several prominent actors and films of the industry.

Among the winners were Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas' starrer Kalki 2898 AD, which notably bagged four prestigious awards. The production house, Vyjayanthi Movies, celebrated the milestone success and expressed gratitude towards the government.

The official Instagram handle of the production house shared a poster of the film with the names of the award categories that the film has won. The post was accompanied by a caption which reads, “A proud moment for all of us at Team #Kalki2898AD! To be recognised with 4 prestigious honours at the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024 is truly special.”

The film has notably won awards in the categories of Best Director (Nag Ashwin), Best Art Director (Adnithin Zihani Choudhary), and Best Costume Designer (Archana Rao and Ajay Kumar). Additionally, Kalki 2898 AD also clinched the first Best Feature Film honour.

Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, announced on Thursday that the government will present the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards on June 14. The ceremony is expected to be held at HITEX, Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD also features Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Kamal Haasan, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur among others in the key roles.
The sci-fi action thriller is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and follows a group of people who set out to save a woman pregnant with Lord Vishnu's 10th and final avatar, Kalki, from an evil supreme god-king, Yaskin.

The film was released in 2024 and instantly became a huge success, breaking all records. The makers have already announced the film’s sequel, with the production set to kick off in late 2025.
