Following the massive success of Kalki 2898 AD, fans have been eagerly anticipating the sequel, Kalki 2. However, it seems they will have to wait a bit longer. While the shoot for Kalki 2 was initially scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025, reports suggest that it is now likely to be delayed.
This change in schedule has left fans wondering when the highly anticipated continuation of the sci-fi epic will finally hit production.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh recently hosted a private event in Mumbai, where they introduced their daughter, Dua, to the paparazzi.
During the event, a media person reportedly asked Deepika about Kalki 2, to which she replied that her daughter was her top priority. Deepika shared that she wasn’t in a hurry to resume work commitments, emphasizing that she didn’t want to leave Dua with a nanny at this stage. "I will raise my daughter myself, just the way my mom raised me," she stated, as quoted by Bollywood Shaadis.
Kalki 2898 AD, released on June 27, 2024, has been a massive success, starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan in leading roles. The film received an overwhelming response from audiences and went on to earn over Rs 1000 crore at the global box office.
Director Nag Ashwin previously praised Deepika Padukone for her natural instinct in portraying her character in Kalki 2898 AD, stating, "She is the most important part of the story. We had a lot of discussions on it when we were writing as well. I think the simplest answer that we arrived at was whose character do you remove and the story does not exist? And that became Deepika’s character. Because if you remove her character, there is no story. There is no Kalki."
