The spine-chilling trailer of Maa, the much-awaited mythological horror film starring Kajol, has already created a stir. Adding to the excitement, R. Madhavan—known for his eerie role in Shaitaan—made a surprise appearance at the trailer launch, setting the stage for a unique crossover between two haunting cinematic worlds.
In an open discussion, Madhavan and Kajol talked about their shared relationship with Ajay Devgn and their individual horror films. Kajol also disclosed that she had a strong spiritual bond with Maa Kali, which was a major factor in her choice to play the strong character in Maa, a unique movie that blends supernatural horror with ancient mythology.
Speaking about the film Kajol said, "What hit me the most was and I wanted to do the movie because of Maa Kali. I love her and she is Maa in my head and I always felt like her hand is on my head. She is always behind me and that was one of the reasons why I adored the script and of course the script was excellent. When we first heard the script we were sure it was going to be a fantastic film."
R. Madhavan shared how some scenes in Shaitaan left even him genuinely spooked during filming. His chilling performance stole the spotlight, leaving audiences with unforgettable, sleepless nights.
While shooting a particular scene Maddy revealed, "The scene where I make the daughter dance the entire night and she cant hold her bladder any more and she pees. So as a villain if I see it the entire messaging changes so I had to think what can I do differently and change the feeling into disgust. So I covered my face with a sheet so I didn't have to see it. So there were certain scenes that made me uncomfortable but I did find my way out of it.”

Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, and Kumar Mangat Pathak co-produce Maa, which is presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films. The movie is scheduled to open in theatres on June 27, 2025.
