American singer-songwriter Joe Jonas has opened up about the positive co-parenting relationship he shares with his former wife, actress Sophie Turner, nearly two years after their separation. Speaking during Jay Shetty’s On Purpose Live Tour in Hollywood, Jonas spoke warmly about their dynamic as they continue to raise their two daughters — Willa, aged four, and Delphine, aged two.
In a candid moment that quickly went viral across TikTok and other social media platforms, Jonas described Turner as an “incredible mother,” expressing deep gratitude for their current parenting arrangement. “They have an incredible mum. There's a beautiful co-parenting relationship that I'm really grateful for... Having an incredible mum, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true,” he said, earning praise online for his maturity and respect.
The couple, who began dating in 2016 and married in 2019, officially separated in September 2023 after four years of marriage. Initially, their divorce was accompanied by a difficult custody battle. However, they reached an agreement by October that prioritised the well-being of their children.
Reflecting on what he wishes for his daughters, Jonas added, “I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart... Be able to walk into any room and feel confident and know that they can do literally anything they want.” He also mentioned that while his daughters may be exposed to the entertainment world due to their parents’ careers, he hopes they take their time before considering any involvement in it. “We might want them to wait a little while,” he added with a smile.
Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, echoed similar sentiments in a May 2024 interview with British Vogue. “They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for,” she said, highlighting their mutual focus on stability and love for their daughters.
More recently, Turner showed her support for Jonas’s latest solo musical venture by sharing a link to his new album Music for People Who Believe in Love on her Instagram Stories, adding the message, “Go go @joejonas.” This gesture further demonstrated the amicable bond they continue to maintain post-divorce.
