BTS’ historic comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square has become the center of controversy. Jimin personally addressed the situation and offered an apology during the live event.
The large-scale concert, held in one of Seoul’s most iconic public spaces, drew massive crowds. However, in the lead-up to the performance, local residents and online communities raised concerns about significant disruptions caused by the event’s extensive security and logistical arrangements.
To facilitate the concert, authorities temporarily closed nearby roads, subway entrances, and access to surrounding buildings. These measures, while necessary for crowd control and safety, reportedly affected residents, local businesses, and even individuals attending personal events such as weddings in the area. Additionally, more than 6700 police officers and security personnel were deployed to manage the anticipated turnout.
Despite the backlash, the BTS group took time during the concert to acknowledge the efforts behind the scenes. SUGA expressed gratitude to fans and officials, saying, "Thank you to ARMY for filling Gwanghwamun. We also thank Seoul City and all the people who made it possible for us to perform here, as well as the police and many others who worked so hard on-site."

Jimin too addressed the audience with a heartfelt message that stood out for its tone of humility and awareness. Alongside his gratitude, he issued a direct apology in light of the inconvenience caused. "We’re really grateful. You all worked hard. We’re sorry."
Many fans interpreted it as an acknowledgment of the broader impact the concert had beyond just attendees.
The group also reminded fans to prioritise safety while returning home. While initial projections estimated a crowd of around 260000, reports suggest the actual turnout may have exceeded expectations.
