Janhvi Kapoor's boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya was seen comforting her as the Dhadak actress was mourning the loss of Nirmal Kapoor, her paternal grandmother, who died in Mumbai on May 2 at the age of 90.
The matriarch of the Kapoor family, Nirmal Kapoor was the mother of actors Anil and Sanjay Kapoor, Reena Kapoor Marwah, and filmmaker Boney Kapoor. She was the wife of the late film producer Surinder Kapoor.
Soon after the news of her grandmother’s passing surfaced, Janhvi was spotted arriving at her father Boney Kapoor’s residence.
The actress was seen texting on her phone as she exited her car in videos posted by paparazzi accounts. She appeared solemn. Shikhar Pahariya, her boyfriend, accompanied her and provided silent support. Shikhar wore an arm rest on his left arm, suggesting that he was recovering from an injury, but that didn't stop him from supporting Janhvi during the touching moment.
Outside the house, the two were observed standing together and whispering to each other.
Members of the extended Kapoor family, along with close friends, began arriving at Boney Kapoor’s home in the afternoon to pay their final respects. Boney himself was briefly seen outside the main gate, acknowledging guests and managing the proceedings.
On the professional front, Janhvi Kapoor is preparing for the world premiere of her upcoming film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. The film will be featured in the Un Certain Regard section at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this May. Janhvi will attend the premiere alongside her co-stars Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa.
She is also set to star opposite Ram Charan in the much-anticipated Telugu film Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, with music composed by the Oscar-winning AR Rahman.
