Janhavi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter starrer Homebound selected in Un Certain Regard category at Cannes 2025

Director Neeraj Ghaywan's second feature film, Homebound, has been officially selected for the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, as revealed in the lineup announcement made on Thursday.

The Un Certain Regard section, known for spotlighting the first and second films of emerging international filmmakers, continues to uphold its tradition in 2025 with an interesting lineup.

Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s second feature film Homebound, is part of the Un Certain Regard category at the Cannes Film Festival, which announced its lineup on Thursday.

In a proud moment, Dharma Productions' official Instagram page shared the announcement by Canne on April 10. As per the post, Homebound stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa. Written and directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mehta.

The caption read, "A moment where Indian cinema takes over the world. We are honoured to announce that #Homebound makes its way to the official selection at the 78th edition of the Festival De Cannes in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category. Our hearts are full and we can’t wait to show you all this journey on the big screens!"


Neeraj Ghaywan’s widely celebrated debut feature Masaan, which released in 2015, had also earned the prestigious honour of being selected in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.

The drama featured an ensemble cast including Vicky Kaushal, Shweta Tripathy, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, and Sanjay Mishra—many of whom received critical acclaim for their performances.

The Un Certain Regard section, known for spotlighting the first and second films of emerging international filmmakers, continues to uphold its tradition in 2025 with an interesting lineup.

Notable entries include Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor the Great, Morad Mostafa’s Aisha Can’t Fly Away, Francesco Sossai’s The Last One for the Road, Meteors by Hubert Charuel, The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo by Diego Céspedes, My Father’s Shadow by Akinola Davies Jr, Once Upon A Time In Gaza by Tarzan Nasser and Arab Nasser, A Pale View of the Hills by Kei Ishikawa, Pillion by Harry Lighton, and Urchin by Harris Dickinson, among others.

The 2025 edition of the Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from May 13 to May 24. Acclaimed French actress Juliette Binoche will preside over the main competition jury, adding further prestige to this globally revered cinematic celebration.
