Tesher reacts as Jalebi Baby plays during IND vs PAK Asia Cup

At the much-awaited India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match in Dubai, cricket fans got a surprise they weren’t expecting — but it definitely had them laughing.

Instead of playing Pakistan’s national anthem, the DJ accidentally played rapper Tesher’s catchy hit Jalebi Baby. The mix-up lasted just about six seconds, but that was more than enough time for social media to explode with memes, jokes, and playful banter.

Even Tesher himself couldn’t help but join in on the fun. On his Instagram Story, he wrote, “Shout out to the sound guy for messing up the anthem and making this an absolutely hilarious day for me. Accidents happen to the best of us. God bless u, whoever you are.”

Not stopping there, Tesher kept the jokes coming. He posted, “Jalebi Baby is always the right anthem,” and later quipped, “When I said Jalebi Baby was an anthem, this isn’t what I had in mind.” His playful comments quickly went viral, turning a small technical blunder into one of the funniest moments of the tournament so far.

For those who may not be aware, Tesher, a Canadian singer, combines Punjabi and English lyrics with a vibrant Desi beat in her lively song "Jalebi Baby."

The song has been a huge hit since it was released in 2020, particularly on TikTok and Instagram, where countless lip-sync and dance videos have been made. The song's playful and distinctively South Asian flavour is derived from its title, which alludes to the well-known Indian dessert jalebi.

With a 2021 remix featuring Jason Derulo, the song's appeal skyrocketed even more, becoming an international sensation.

In the meantime, cricket was the main focus of the game. Team India and Suryakumar Yadav dominated Pakistan with a clinic. With seven wickets remaining, India easily chased down the target in just under 16 overs after bowling Pakistan out for just 127 runs. India applied pressure right away, taking early wickets and preventing Pakistan from settling in.
