However, behind the dazzling lights of stardom, several families have been embroiled in public feuds, legal battles, and bitter rivalries that have played out in the media over the years. From disputes over wealth and legacy to personal differences, these infamous family feuds have kept audiences intrigued.

The Chiranjeevi–Ram Charan controversy

A controversy erupted in the mega family of Tollywood involving Chiranjeevi and his son, Ram Charan. The controversy began when Chiranjeevi made a statement during an interview, expressing his desire for a grandson rather than a granddaughter.

His remark sparked outrage, with many accusing him of gender bias and promoting patriarchal views. The backlash intensified when Ram Charan and his wife Upasana Kamineni, who have actively supported gender equality, subtly distanced themselves from the controversy. Upasana had previously spoken about raising her daughter with strong values.

While the family has not directly addressed the tension, the public fallout has led to speculation about an internal rift between Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan over traditional vs progressive views on family and gender.

Manchu Manoj vs Mohan Babu

One of the most shocking feuds in recent times has been between actor Manchu Manoj and his father, veteran actor Mohan Babu.

In 2023, a video surfaced showing an altercation where Mohan Babu allegedly confronted Manoj over personal and professional matters. The incident hinted at a deeper rift within the Manchu family, with Manoj later confirming differences with his half-brother Vishnu Manchu as well. This feud shook the Telugu film industry, as the Manchus have long been a powerful family in Tollywood.

The Kapoor family

The Kapoor family has long been Bollywood royalty, but even within this illustrious lineage, disputes have surfaced. One of the biggest controversies revolved around the traditional rule that Kapoor women were not allowed to act.

However, Babita Kapoor, wife of Randhir Kapoor, defied this tradition. She left the Kapoor household, determined to make her daughters—Karisma and Kareena Kapoor—leading actresses in Bollywood.

Both went on to achieve immense success, breaking the unwritten rule of the family. Babita’s separation from Randhir led to years of estrangement from the Kapoor clan, but over time, tensions eased, and now, the family is often seen together during festivals and celebrations.

The Bachchan family

While the Bachchans are known for maintaining a dignified public image, rumours of a feud between Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have frequently surfaced. Reports suggest that Jaya and Aishwarya do not always see eye to eye, leading to tension within the family.

The Khan brothers

The Khan brothers — Salman, Arbaaz, and Sohail — have generally stood by each other, but there have been instances of tension. Arbaaz Khan’s troubled marriage with Malaika Arora reportedly led to friction between Malaika and Salman, as the latter was allegedly not in favour of the divorce.

Boney Kapoor–Anil Kapoor

Rumours of a rift between producer Boney Kapoor and actor Anil Kapoor did the rounds, particularly regarding the No Entry sequel. Boney had initially cast a younger generation of actors instead of Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor, leading to speculation that Anil was unhappy about being left out.

However, Boney later clarified that his statement about Anil being ‘angry’ was meant as a joke and was taken out of context. While both brothers have worked together on multiple films, this incident hinted at possible differences between them, though they have maintained a cordial front in public.

Sanjay Dutt and his sisters

Sanjay Dutt has had a tumultuous life, and one of the biggest family fallouts occurred when he secretly married Manayata Dutt in 2008. His sisters, Priya and Namrata Dutt, were reportedly unaware of the wedding and opposed the match. They had supported Sanjay through his troubled past, including his time in jail, and were hurt by his decision to exclude them from such a significant moment.

The feud continued for a while, with Priya Dutt even publicly stating that she had no clue about the marriage. However, over the years, the family seems to have reconciled, with the Dutt sisters occasionally appearing at family gatherings.
