Harrison Ford to retire from Hollywood from soon?

Harrison Ford has revealed that he plans to retire from Hollywood, but before he steps away from the limelight, he has one final role in store.

The legendary actor, known for iconic roles such as Indiana Jones and Han Solo, is preparing to bid farewell to his decades-long career in film. However, before he does so, Ford is taking on a significant project, leaving fans eagerly awaiting his last performance on the big screen. This upcoming role promises to be a memorable one, marking the end of an era for one of Hollywood's most enduring stars.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ford revealed that his next step is to "retire from work" altogether. He mentioned, "I want to finish what I'm doing, I'd like to spend more time flying; like to spend more time with my family at home. I have things in my life outside of movies."

For his latest film, the 82-year-old Hollywood icon is set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World.

He will portray General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, a role previously played by William Hurt, who passed away in March 2022. However, Harrison Ford has suggested that this might be his final acting role.

His most recent Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, faced difficulties at the box office, grossing only 60 million dollars during its opening weekend in 2022.

An insider shared with Radar Online in 2023, "Harrison is used to seeing Indy celebrated as one of cinema's greatest heroes. Experiencing this level of rejection is embarrassing to him. At 81, he's ready to walk away."

After a long and successful career, the underwhelming reception of this film seemed to have played a significant role in Ford's decision to step back from acting. The film's lackluster performance, coupled with his age and desire to step away from the industry, signals that Ford may be preparing to close this chapter of his life for good.

While reflecting on his last Indiana Jones adventure, Ford said, “I was really the one who felt there was another story to tell. When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigour, to see what happened.”“I’m still happy I made that movie.”

The actor experienced similar criticism when he returned as Han Solo in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Despite the film’s commercial success, Ford's portrayal of the beloved character sparked mixed reactions.

More recently, even Ford’s newer projects have faced challenges, with some failing to meet expectations either critically or commercially. These setbacks, coupled with his years in the industry, appear to have contributed to his decision to step back from acting.
