The highly anticipated comedy sequel Housefull 5 is all set to release in theatres on Friday, June 6, with advance bookings for the film already underway.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, in India, Housefull 5 has sold 69,828 tickets for 9,625 shows in various formats to date, earning Rs 2.12 crore in revenue from advance sales alone.
The movie is anticipated to debut with a gross receipt of around Rs 5.67 crore after accounting for reserved seats and block seats. States like Maharashtra and the Delhi NCR area are among the top contributors to advance reservation, followed by Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.
According to media reports, Housefull 5 will be the franchise's largest release to date, showing up on over 5,000 screens nationwide and ranking among the most widely distributed comedies in India. The movie has a strong start to ticket sales and is set to compete head-to-head with Kamal Haasan's Thug Life at the box office.
Apart from its wide distribution, Housefull 5 has also earned the title of being the franchise's costliest film. It is currently the most expensive Indian comedy film ever produced, with a reported production budget of Rs 225 crore (not including print and advertising expenses).
As per the makers, the film was initially anticipated to be produced on a huge budget of Rs 350 crore. However, it was reported that a reduced budget resulted from cast changes. Even so, it continues to rank among Akshay Kumar's most costly films, right after Sooryavanshi and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Housefull 5 stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer, and Johnny Lever. It is helmed by directed by Tarun Mansukhani.
