Hollywood legend Harrison Ford was honoured with SAG-AFTRA’s prestigious Life Achievement Award at the 2026 Screen Actors Guild Awards, delivering an emotional and deeply personal speech that reflected on his extraordinary journey in cinema.
The veteran star was presented with the honour by longtime friend and fellow actor Woody Harrelson, who set the tone for the evening with warmth and humour.
“Harrison is a true Renaissance man, an iconic actor, a distinguished pilot and a master carpenter who built his own home.
There's an indescribable energy he brings to everything he does and every moment he's on screen. And this is just a glimpse of that gritty, unforgettable magnetism,” Harrelson said, as quoted by Variety.
Ford, widely celebrated for his unforgettable roles in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, was seen laughing warmly as Harrelson delivered the tribute, clearly touched by the heartfelt introduction.
Following a standing ovation and a moving tribute video chronicling his six-decade-long career, Ford stepped onto the stage visibly emotional.
"I feel incredibly grateful for this kind attention. But to be clear, I also am quite humbled. That said, it is a little weird to be receiving a lifetime achievement award at the half point of my career. It's a little weird isn't it? I'm still a working actor!" he said, drawing both laughter and applause from the audience.
Reflecting candidly on his early struggles, Ford shared, "I struggled for about 15 years, going from acting job, then carpentry and back to acting, until I finally got a part in a wildly successful film. None of this happened on my own," before acknowledging the filmmakers who helped shape his destiny. He credited Star Wars creator George Lucas and Indiana Jones director Steven Spielberg for believing in him during a pivotal time in his life.
"They were both incredibly persistent, who supported me at a time when I really needed it. I would not be here without them," he said, reported Variety.
As the speech progressed, Ford’s gratitude became even more apparent. "As actors, we get to live many lives. We get to explore ideas that affirm and elevate our shared experience. The stories we tell have a unique capacity to create moments of emotional connection. They bring us together... I'm indeed a lucky guy. Lucky to have found my people. Lucky to have work that challenges me. Lucky to still be doing it. And I don't take that for granted."
With this honour, Harrison Ford becomes the 61st recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, a recognition reserved for artists who have made profound contributions to the profession of acting.

Over the years, he has also received the Critics Choice Career Achievement Award and the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, further cementing his place among cinema’s most revered figures.
Even after decades of iconic performances, Ford’s words made one thing clear — he is far from done. For a man whose career has defined generations of moviegoers, the journey, it seems, is still very much in motion.
