Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds is all set to star in the Netflix adaptation of the classic children's book, Eloise. The actor will star alongside newcomer Mae Schenk, who will play the film's lead role, in the streamer's upcoming live-action adaptation of the 1950s children's series Eloise.
According to People, Ryan Reynolds will play a villain in the film. Most of the details of the film have currently been kept under wraps.
However, Netflix has teased that the film is expected to be "a wholly original adventure based on the beloved children’s book series written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight.”
The new film will be directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who co-wrote the script with Hannah Marks and Linda Woolverton and is the creator of hit television shows like Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Thompson, the author of the Eloise novels, passed away in 1998 at the age of 88.
The show centres on Eloise, a young child who lives in the Plaza Hotel in New York City. It follows her life with a number of characters, such as her nanny, pet turtle Skipperdee, and her pug, Weenie.
In the 1950s, Thompson and illustrator Knight released four books: Eloise: A Book for Precocious Grown-ups, Eloise in Paris, Eloise at Christmastime, and Eloise in Moscow. Eloise Takes a Bawth, the fifth book, came out in 2002.
