Fan-favourite sci-fi thriller Stranger Things is already winning hearts with the first few episodes of its latest season, and anticipation is soaring for the season's finale set to release on December 31.
With Season 5, Volume 1 now streaming, Netflix has announced a new Nancy Wheeler spinoff story. But instead of another show or film, the expansion comes as a mystery novel titled Stranger Things: One Way or Another, that released on December 2.
Available for purchase beginning December 2, Stranger Things: One Way or Another: A Nancy Wheeler Mystery has already climbed to No. 1 among new releases in Amazon’s Science Fiction Crime & Mystery category and is currently sold out.
Written by Caitlin Schneiderhan, who also works on the hit series, the novel follows the eldest Wheeler sibling, played by Natalia Dyer on TV, and Robin Buckley, played by Maya Hawke, as they embark on "a dangerous quest for the truth" when a classmate "starts acting shifty" two months after the so-called earthquake caused by Vecna devastated Hawkins.
The official synopsis reads, "The deeper the two dig, the further Nancy finds herself drawn into a web of intrigue that threatens to trap her in Hawkins . . . Forever."
At first glance, the book appears to be a fun bonus for fans waiting between volumes. But Nancy Wheeler’s stories have never been mere extras.
Her investigations have powered some of the series’ biggest breakthroughs, with her instincts uncovering the truth long before anyone else. Since this book is set in the crucial, still largely unexplored period between Seasons 4 and 5, the timing hints that the story may be more than a simple filler.
The wildly popular series premiered its fifth and final season on November 26, 2025, with the first four episodes. The next three episodes drop on Christmas Day, and the two-hour series finale arrives on New Year’s Eve.
