One of Stranger Things' biggest stars, David Harbour, is making headlines for reasons unrelated to the show just as it prepares for its big comeback.
Both his ex-wife, Lily Allen, and co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, have made serious accusations against the 50-year-old actor, who is best known for portraying the tough yet sensitive Jim Hopper.
While fans have long admired the touching on-screen father-daughter bond between Harbour’s Hopper and Brown’s Eleven, reports now suggest that their off-screen dynamic has become strained.
According to Radar Online and the Daily Mail, Brown, 21, filed “pages and pages” of complaints against Harbour, accusing him of bullying and harassment during the filming of Stranger Things’ final season.
A source quoted by Daily Mail said, “Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season. There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months.”
Netflix reportedly carried out an internal inquiry following the complaint, though the outcome remains undisclosed.
Importantly, sources clarified that the allegations did not involve any sexual misconduct. It’s also believed that Brown had a personal representative with her on set during filming to ensure her comfort and safety.
Adding to the controversy, Harbour’s personal life has also come under the spotlight. His ex-wife, British singer Lily Allen, filed for divorce in September after four years of marriage. On her latest album, West End Girl, Allen appeared to hint at infidelity, implying that Harbour had been unfaithful during their “open” marriage.
The alleged affair was reportedly with Natalie Tippett, a costume designer who worked with Harbour on the 2021 Netflix film We Have a Ghost.
Despite the strain in their relationship, Allen is said to have supported Harbour during the difficult period on set.
A source told Mail, “Lily supported him throughout it all. It was a brutal time.”
As Harbour navigates these personal and professional challenges, Stranger Things fans are now torn between anticipation for the show’s final season and concern for the drama unfolding behind the scenes.
Season 5, Part One will be premiering on 26 November and Part Two will be arriving on 25 December.
