Bradley Cooper is reportedly in talks to star alongside Margot Robbie in the Ocean’s Eleven prequel, which is currently in development at Warner Bros., according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be directed by Minari filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung and produced by Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
While details about the script by Carrie Solomon are still under wraps, the movie is said to be set in Europe during the 1960s and will serve as an original prequel to the Ocean’s Eleven franchise.
The upcoming project will take place before Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 hit Ocean’s Eleven, which starred George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts.
That film, centered on a group of con artists pulling off a massive Las Vegas casino heist, was both a critical and commercial success and went on to spawn two sequels. The modern trilogy was itself inspired by the 1960 classic Ocean’s 11, featuring Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack.
The title of the prequel has yet to be revealed, but it will join the long-running Ocean’s series, which includes 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve, 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen, and the 2018 spin-off Ocean’s Eight, starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna.
