The 82nd Golden Globes, held on Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, began with a bang as host Nikki Glaser delivered a bold, no-holds-barred monologue. Known for her sharp wit, Glaser tackled some of 2024’s biggest Hollywood scandals, ensuring no celebrity or controversy was left untouched. Among her targets was Sean "Diddy" Combs, whose recent legal troubles have cast a shadow over Hollywood, leading to a mix of nervous chuckles and muted reactions from the star-studded audience.

Glaser started by congratulating Zendaya on her stellar performances in Dune: Part Two and Challengers, the latter of which became a cultural phenomenon for its risqué content. She joked, "Girl, that movie was more charged than Diddy's credit card," referencing both the film’s provocative themes and the allegations against Combs. The audience chuckled uneasily, but Glaser wasn’t done.

Alluding to the infamous "freak-off parties" allegedly hosted by Diddy, she quipped, "The afterparty won’t be as fun this year. No baby oil, just lots of olive oil. I know the Stanley Tucci freak-off doesn’t have the same ring to it." The camera panned to a laughing Tucci, breaking the tension momentarily, before Glaser moved on to her next roast.

While the jokes elicited laughs, the reaction was notably muted compared to Glaser’s other quips, reflecting the sensitivity surrounding the allegations against Diddy. Arrested in 2024 on charges of sex trafficking and assault, the disgraced rapper has been accused of hosting illicit parties involving trafficked women, drugs, and other disturbing elements. Photos purportedly showing Hollywood A-listers at these events have sparked controversy, though many celebrities deny any involvement, claiming they "left early."

Glaser’s bold approach has divided viewers online, with some praising her fearless humour and others criticizing her for addressing such a delicate topic.
