Nearly 15 years after its initial run, the cherished romantic classic Ye Maya Chesave, which featured Naga Chaitanya and Samantha's first on-screen couple, is getting ready for a big re-release. Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has revealed some little-known facts about the film's early development and a distinctive original climax as fans prepare to relive the magic.
In a recent interview, Gautham disclosed that the original plot of the movie had a completely different conclusion, one that featured Megastar Chiranjeevi. The heroine is supposed to get married to someone else in a distant place in the first draft. In the meantime, the hero is filming his first movie, in which Chiranjeevi sir plays the lead, Gautham clarified.
Chiranjeevi Sir inquires as to why he appears depressed on set. When he finds out, he sets up a helicopter so the hero can quickly end the wedding.
Even though this version was never released, it demonstrates the degree of creativity Gautham initially infused into the movie. Additionally, he disclosed that he initially gave the project to Manjula, the sister of Mahesh Babu, with Mahesh as the lead. Mahesh, however, said he would rather have an action script and turned down the romantic drama. Another well-known Telugu star gave the same comments.

Naga Chaitanya was eventually brought on board by Gautham and the producers, and the rest is history. In addition to becoming an enormous hit, the movie marked the beginning of Samantha's Telugu film career. Both the Tamil and Telugu versions were commercially successful, with Simbu starring in the former (Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa) and Naga Chaitanya in the latter.
On July 19, 2025, Ye Maya Chesave will return to theatres, giving fans the chance to relive a love tale that had a significant influence on Telugu cinema.
