Veteran actress Radhika Sarathkumar recently made an important statement about the success of the Tamil film Thaai Kizhavi. She said the film has created a new trend in the Tamil film industry. According to her this is the first time a heroine has received a share in the film profits in addition to her salary.

Speaking at the success event of the film, Radhika praised the producers for taking this bold step. The film was produced by Sivakarthikeyan and Passion Studios Sudhan.

Radhika said that for many years profit sharing was given mostly to heroes. Leading actors usually receive a part of the profits along with their payment. But heroines rarely get such opportunities. She said the success of Thaai Kizhavi has now opened a new path for actresses.

The actress added that this decision will make many lead actresses happy. She believes this step will encourage producers to treat female actors more equally in the future. According to her Thaai Kizhavi has started a new trend that could change the industry.

She said, "Hats off to Producers Siva Karthikeyan and Passion Studios Sudhan. For the first time in the Tamil film industry, a heroine is getting a profit share apart from the salary I got paid. This is a History.. This will be a game-changer in the industry. So far, only heroes have been getting this opportunity. ThaaiKizhavi has opened a new trend. Heroines will be happy.”

During the event, Radhika also spoke about the film’s impressive box office performance. The movie was made with a small budget of about Rs 9 crore. It did not have big star hero action scenes or expensive visual effects. Still the film became a big hit.

Radhika said the film collected nearly Rs 50 crore to Rs 60 crore worldwide within ten days. The ticket price was around Rs 150 which made the film accessible to many viewers. She said this shows that a good story can attract audiences without high ticket prices.

The story of Thaai Kizhavi focuses on Pavunuthayi a strong and strict elderly woman who works as a moneylender in a village. When her sons return home after a difficult incident old family problems come back. The film mixes emotional moments with light comedy.

Radhika played the lead role and carried most of the film on her shoulders. The movie was directed by debutant director Sivakumar Murugesan. It was produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions and Passion Studios and distributed by AGS Entertainment. The film also performed very well in Tamil Nadu where it earned over Rs 34 crore.
