Entrepreneur and popular YouTuber Gaurav Taneja has recently presented his protein brand, Beast Life, on Shark Tank India Season 4. However, things went otherwise after Sharks Aman Gupta, Vineeta Singh, and Anupam Mittal challenged him over several aspects of his business dealings.
The episode was recently aired on television, and Gaurav received intense backlash on social media. The YouTuber recently appeared on the Think School Hindi YouTube channel by Zero1 and shared his experience of Shark Tank.
He also addressed the criticism over juggling his social media brand, Flying Beast, with his other ventures. He said, “They told me, ‘You aren’t shutting down Flying Beast?’ and I was like what a foolish decision. They are asking me shut down what distinguishes me and from where I am selling everything.”
He added, “We got a kickstart and we had an advantage but the rest of the journey has been same as them. We didn’t get everything on a plate, I have also had sleepless nights and built this distribution. I would get up at 4 am and take flights.”
While reflecting on the learning experience, he shared, “More than business, I learnt how to stay humble and take rejections, and how to be quiet at some situations, come back and work harder, despite people not believing in you. We have to face rejections many times but when we face it in front of the camera, it becomes a big thing."
For the unversed, Gaurav sought Rs 1 crore in exchange for 1% equity in Beast Life, placing its valuation at Rs 100 crore. However, none of the Sharks invested in his deal. They asked him to reveal his income from his YouTube channel, which Gaurav failed to do.
Additionally, the Sharks also raised concerns about his multitasking approach and dependence on delegation in managing multiple businesses. He was also slammed for omitting the mention of his other food venture, Rosier, Gaurav.
