Actress and model Shwetha Menon has landed in legal trouble, allegedly for earning money through vulgar or obscene films. A case has been registered against the actress under Section 67 (a) of the IT Act.
The Kochi Central Police have registered an FIR that alleges that the lewd scenes of the actress were circulated on social media. The police have registered the case under the Obscenity Act.
According to local media outlets, activist Martin Menachery has filed a complaint against Shwetha, alleging that she published vulgar and obscene scenes on social media and on an adult site.
The police registered the FIR following an order from the Ernakulam CJM Court, based on a complaint by public activist Martin Menachery.
The activist claimed that all the films Shwetha had acted in earlier featured obscene scenes.
The complaint includes several films, including Rathinirvedam and Paleri Manikyam (both released after censorship), a condom advertisement she appeared in, and Kalimannu, which showed a childbirth scene.

Shwetha Menon is yet to address the controversy.
The latest FIR came amid the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) elections. Shweta is contesting for the president's post of AMMA.
The elections are scheduled to be held on August 16. Shwetha will be contesting against Jagadeesh, Devan, Raveendran, Anoop Chandran and Jayan Cherthala.
