Following a private complaint in Bharatpur’s CJM Court No. 2, the court directed the Mathura Gate Police Station to file an FIR. Acting on the court order, police now has booked the case under Section 420 (cheating) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. While, the Investigations are now underway.
Shah Rukh Khan has been the face of Hyundai India since 1998, launching several cars including the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at Auto Expo 2023. Deepika Padukone joined as a Hyundai brand ambassador in December 2023, with both stars recently appearing in a campaign for the 2024 Hyundai Creta.
Under the Indian law, brand ambassadors can be held accountable if a product they endorse is found to be misleading or defective. The Consumer Protection Act, 2019, gives the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) the power to penalize endorsers for false advertising.
