Actor Akshaye Khanna’s unexpected dance sequence in Dhurandhar has turned into one of the film’s most talked-about moments, leaving not just fans but even the original creator of the song stunned. The Arabic rap track Fa9la, sung by rapper Flipperachi, has gone viral on social media ever since audiences caught the first-day-first-show of Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller.

Soon after the film’s release, viewers began buzzing online about the song and Akshaye Khanna’s striking screen presence in it. Responding to the growing chatter, the makers later dropped the full version of Fa9la on Instagram, giving fans a clearer look at the now-iconic sequence.

In a recent interview with Fever FM, Flipperachi opened up about how his track became part of Dhurandhar and his reaction to Akshaye Khanna’s performance.

The rapper revealed that the collaboration initially began as a licensing discussion. “They approached us first of all. They told us we need the license for the song, and we wanted to do our own version of it. They wanted the beat. So they do their own version,” he said.

However, things evolved quickly due to time constraints. “Then, out of a shortage of time, they said, you know what, actually the song is good by itself, so let’s keep it like this,” Flipperachi shared, explaining how the original version ultimately made it into the film.

What truly stood out for him was Akshaye Khanna’s screen impact during the sequence. Praising the actor, Flipperachi said, “My shoutout to boy Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, he just killed that part. I just love it.” He added that the entire experience felt special, especially seeing his music featured in a major Bollywood production. “They give me shoutouts and everything, and they’re so humble. I appreciate that they really see the sound, they love the sound that they had to put it into a big Bollywood movie. So it’s a pleasure, it’s an honour, let’s say.”

The song Fa9la plays during the entry scene of Akshaye Khanna’s character, Rahman Dakait, also known as Sher-e-Baloch.

The combination of the Arabic rap, stylised visuals and Khanna’s commanding presence has been widely praised by fans, many of whom did not expect to see the actor in such a groove-driven sequence.

When asked whether he has met the cast of Dhurandhar yet, Flipperachi said he hasn’t, but conversations are underway. “No, I haven’t unfortunately, but I think there have been talks recently with Billboard. They’re trying to hook us up to see if we can go to a festival and meet the whole cast,” he revealed.

Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar boasts an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal in key roles. With Fa9la gaining momentum beyond the film, Akshaye Khanna’s dance sequence has clearly carved its own place in the movie’s cultural footprint.
