Esha Gupta opens up about her fight with filmmaker Sajid Khan: 'Unhone mujhe gaali di'

Esha Gupta opened up recently about her fallout with filmmaker Sajid Khan during the making of Humshakals. The actress shared that the dynamic between them soured unexpectedly.

During a conversation with Sidharth Kannan, Esha revealed that although things had initially seemed fine, the atmosphere had eventually turned tense on the sets. She hadn’t anticipated the situation spiraling the way it did, marking a confrontation that ultimately changed everything.

As Esha opened up about the incident, she revealed that the turning point came during a heated argument with the director—a confrontation that shifted the entire dynamic and led to unexpected consequences. “I had a fight. Sajid Khan and I were not at all on the same page, and we ended up having a proper fight," she added.

Esha also stated, “See, I don’t like people abusing me. You should always treat people the way you want them to treat you. It’s that simple. Unhone mujhe gaali di… phir maine bhi di (he used verbal abuse first so I also did)."

However, she didn't comment on the exact fight that they had and what happened between them. She further explained that she had almost decided to back out of the film. “I walked out of the set. I went home. I didn’t stay. I had also made up my mind to exit the film." But later the film's producer apologised and convinced her to stay even before Sajid did.

Years later, when Sajid Khan’s name surfaced during the #MeToo movement with multiple women accusing him of sexual misconduct, Esha clarified that she was never subjected to such behaviour. She also recalled how a newspaper had mistakenly linked her to Sajid in a report about his dating history — a claim she firmly refuted and ensured was publicly corrected with an apology.

She also stated, “I’ve never said anything in relation to MeToo about Sajid. In fact, when those allegations started coming out, someone even added my name to the list of people who accused him. I said, ‘No.’ Dekhiye, jahan jisne jo galti ki hai woh bolo. Like I’m openly saying now that he abused me. But Sajid never tried any of those [sexual misconduct] things with me. So I will not say that about him.”
