Diego Borella, assistant director of the Netflix popular series Emily in Paris, has tragically passed away at the age of 47.
While filming the fifth season of the show in Italy, Borella passed out at around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, according to local media outlets La Repubblica, Il Messaggero, and Corriere della Sera.
The incident happened inside Venice's historic Hotel Danieli while they were getting ready for a final scene.
On-set medical personnel tried to revive Borella right away, but they were unsuccessful. According to La Repubblica, a local physician later verified his death and attributed it to a "sudden heart attack."
Il Messaggero reports that filming for Emily in Paris Season 5 has been halted in the wake of this tragedy.
Borella was a well-known Venetian professional who had established a distinguished career in literature, the visual arts, and filmmaking. He received a great deal of training in Rome, London, and New York, and he had been working on the Emily in Paris production in Italy in recent weeks.
His sudden passing has left a void in the creative community and cast a shadow over the ongoing production of the popular Netflix series.
