The clarification comes after online criticism of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir's Sardaar Ji 3 casting, which allegedly sparked rumours that Diljit was fired from Border 2.

Amid swirling controversy and speculation, Diljit Dosanjh has firmly shut down all rumours about his exit from Border 2.

By sharing a reel on Instagram, the actor-singer reaffirmed his ongoing participation in the eagerly awaited sequel. With the famous song Sandese Aate Hai from the original Border playing in the background, Diljit can be seen in the video wearing a military coat and showing off army badges bearing his name.

His caption simply read “Border 2", delivering a stylish and straightforward confirmation.

The clarification comes after online criticism of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir's Sardaar Ji 3 casting, which allegedly sparked rumours that Diljit was fired from Border 2. After the devastating Pahalgam attack in April, the backlash grew more intense, leading many internet users to wonder why a Pakistani actor would be in an Indian production.

Nevertheless, despite the ongoing controversy, Moneycontrol had previously reported that Diljit was not being removed from Border 2. A source informed the publication, "The news about his replacement is not true; Diljit is part of border 2 and we have already shot 50 percent of the film with him. The announcement about his casting was made almost 9 months back."

In an interview with BBC Asian Network, Diljit broke his silence on the subject. He claimed that Hania Aamir's casting was completed long before cross-border tensions, such as the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, recently increased.

He emphasised that months before these incidents, the movie had already been finished. He also supported the producers' choice to release Sardaar Ji 3 abroad, citing the popularity of Punjabi films around the world.

In a recent Instagram story, Diljit re-shared a video showcasing audience reactions to Sardaar Ji 3 in a packed Pakistani theatre. The clip, which features a scene with Hania Aamir, includes text reading, “12 shows on ultra screens, the largest in the country. Overwhelming response from the audience for Sardaar Ji 3. Come and watch!”—indicating that the film continues to resonate positively with audiences, despite the controversy.

With Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahaan Shetty joining the ensemble cast, Border 2 is presently in production. Varun and Ahan had earlier began filming at Pune's National Defence Academy. Now that Diljit Dosanjh has made his position very apparent, attention is once again on the film, which is an ambitious sequel to the patriotic masterpiece.
