Few realise, though, that his on-screen association with the uniform reflects a long-standing familial ties to the police force in real life.

During the British colonial era, Salman's grandfather, Abdul Rashid Khan, was a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Indore State. His service was both prestigious and historically significant because it was the highest position available to Indian officers at the time.

Abdul Rashid Khan gained widespread respect for his honesty and bravery when he started his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The government recognised his excellent service and awarded him a bungalow in Mandleshwar, about 50 kilometres from the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. From 1942 to 1948, he resided there. A family based on honour and commitment was established by this legacy of public service.

When Salim Khan, the son of Abdul Rashid Khan, entered the movie business, the family's narrative took a different turn. Salim, one of Bollywood's most renowned screenwriters, relocated his family to Mumbai, where his sons, Salman, Arbaaz, and Sohail, would later rise to prominence in the motion picture business.

The Khan family still upholds the discipline, patriotism, and service that characterised their ancestry despite the transition from civil service to the film industry.

Abdul Rashid Khan's stellar reputation was further enhanced when the Holkar Kingdom of Indore bestowed upon him the title of "Diler Jung," which was a tribute to his extraordinary valour and service. The family's long history of bravery and national service is highlighted by this honorary title.

Since both Salman and his father, Salim, were born in Indore, they have a strong connection to the local culture. Bollywood's most famous stories were shaped by Salim's pen, but Salman's charisma made them come to life on screen, resulting in a special fusion of skill and legacy.
