The conversation around Dhurandhar continues to grow stronger, and looking back, a heartfelt endorsement from Anupam Kher along with a touching piece of trivia had already added an emotional layer to the film’s journey.
Back when the first part released, Anupam Kher had watched the film and immediately shared a video on social media, calling it a powerful and important cinematic experience. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar had begun receiving praise for its gripping narrative around unsung heroes, and Kher’s reaction only strengthened that wave.
In his post, Anupam described the film as “a triumph for Indian cinema,” highlighting how it brought focus to “unknown and faceless Indians” who risk their lives for the nation. His words carried both pride and admiration, making it clear that the film had left a deep impact on him.
He also applauded the performances, especially that of Ranveer Singh, whom he called “fantastic.” Anupam went on to praise R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna, even revealing that he had immediately called Khanna after watching the film to express his appreciation.
Sharing a candid moment, Anupam revealed that he had called Dhar right after watching the film and said, “Mata chadh gayi hai kya? Itni kamaal ki film banaayi hai!” The remark, delivered with warmth and disbelief, reflected how impressed he was by the filmmaker’s work.
But what truly stood out was the trivia Anupam shared about the film’s title. He revealed that Dhurandhar was originally a title registered by late actor-director Satish Kaushik. Adding more depth to this connection, it later emerged that Dhar chose to use the title while also acknowledging Satish Kaushik’s legacy in a meaningful way.
As a tribute, the film’s end credits carried a special acknowledgment to Kaushik’s wife, Shashi Kaushik. This gesture turned the title into something far more personal, linking the film to an emotional legacy within the industry.
Anupam Kher had expressed happiness at seeing this acknowledgment, noting that such gestures reflect the respect that continues to exist within the film fraternity.
Now, as things come full circle, it’s interesting to note that Kher had also revealed back then that the story wouldn’t end with just one film. The second part, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is set to release on March 19, taking the narrative forward.
With Aditya Dhar returning to direction after Uri: The Surgical Strike, and the sequel now ready to hit screens, Dhurandhar stands not just as a film, but as a growing franchise built on emotion, scale, and legacy.
