Dhurandhar: The Revenge finally hits the theatres today with the paid previews, after high anticipation following the record-breaking success of the first part.
Just ahead of its release, the film’s certification report from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) surfaced online, offering a detailed glimpse into the changes made before it reached audiences. The report highlights multiple edits, scene trims, and replacements, ultimately resulting in a slightly shorter runtime for the Indian theatrical version.
As per the certification document, a total of 4 out of 21 significant modifications were specifically suggested in relation to scenes depicting extreme violence.
These include moments described as “smashing the eye,” “beheading and kicking,” “hitting the head with a cement block,” and “hitting the head with a hammer,” all of which were trimmed. As per the report, the 24 seconds of a 'beheading and kicking' scene were deleted.
Despite the edits, the film has been granted an ‘A’ certificate. The final runtime for its India release stands at 3 hours, 49 minutes and 36 seconds, slightly shorter than the version initially submitted to the board, which was approximately 3 hours and 51 minutes long.
With additional cuts amounting to around 1.3 minutes, the Indian version is now said to be over six minutes shorter than the overseas cut, which reportedly runs for about 3 hours and 55 minutes.
The censoring of the violent scenes and the sensitive content also hasn’t gone unnoticed by the fans, as many have expressed their disappointment over the extent of the cuts made before the release of the movie.
However, the movie remains one of the most anticipated releases of the year 2026 and is already being considered one of the longest films in the history of Indian cinema.
