  • Dhurandhar 2 releases March 19 with late-night Mumbai shows
  • Advance bookings top 4.70 lakh tickets and Rs 29.02 crore
  • Ticket prices for odd-hour shows remain below Rs 1,000

The buzz around Dhurandhar 2 has reached a fever pitch as the film gears up for its theatrical release on March 19, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr holiday. Even before its official opening, the sequel has turned into a nationwide phenomenon, with Mumbai witnessing an unusual surge in late-night and early-morning show timings.

Ahead of the release, the makers have scheduled paid previews a day earlier, and advance bookings indicate strong audience interest. What has particularly caught attention is the scheduling pattern in Mumbai. According to BookMyShow listings, several multiplexes across the city have opened shows as early as 2:15 AM, 2:20 AM, and 2:45 AM. Miraj Cinemas IMAX in Wadala, for instance, has a show listed at 2:10 AM.

Typically, early morning shows in Mumbai begin around 6 AM. However, the nearly four-hour runtime of Dhurandhar 2, clocking in at 3 hours and 52 minutes, appears to have pushed exhibitors to experiment with unconventional timings in order to accommodate demand and maximize screen occupancy.

Despite the massive hype, ticket pricing for these odd-hour shows has remained relatively accessible. Recliner seats in Mumbai are currently priced between Rs 550 and Rs 850 for March 19 screenings, keeping them below the Rs 1,000 mark. This pricing strategy is expected to drive higher footfall during the initial wave of screenings.

The film’s advance booking numbers further underline its strong opening prospects. As per Sacnilk, paid previews alone have already grossed Rs 40.54 crore. For the opening day, over 4.70 lakh tickets have been sold across more than 15,000 shows nationwide, contributing approximately Rs 29.02 crore in advance sales.

Directed as a high-octane action sequel, Dhurandhar 2 builds on the success of its 2025 predecessor, which emerged as the highest-grossing film of the year. The trailer, released on March 7, showcases Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat and Hamza, promising an intense narrative driven by revenge and large-scale action sequences.

The film also stars Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt, reprising their roles from the first installment. It is jointly produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.

With unprecedented show timings and strong advance bookings, Dhurandhar 2 is poised for a massive opening at the box office.
