  • Dhurandhar 2 earns Rs 42.71 crore in preview bookings
  • Preview sales surpass first film's opening day collection
  • Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai lead in advance bookings

Ranveer Singh’s much-anticipated action spectacle Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has stormed the box office even before its official release, rewriting franchise records through its paid previews. With shows beginning from 5:00 PM onwards, the film has already amassed a staggering Rs 42.71 crore in advance bookings for previews alone, surpassing the entire opening day collection of the first Dhurandhar, which stood at Rs 33.60 crore.

What this really means is simple: the sequel isn’t just bigger, it has completely outpaced the original in terms of audience demand and market scale. When blocked seats are included, the preview gross jumps further to Rs 47.91 crore, signaling extraordinary anticipation across the country.

The comparison becomes even sharper when you look at the first film’s performance. Dhurandhar had collected a net Rs 28.00 crore across 6,230 shows on its opening day. In contrast, Dhurandhar 2 is already operating on a much wider release strategy with significantly higher occupancy levels, effectively doubling the franchise’s opening momentum even before day one officially kicks in.

Region-wise numbers tell the same story. Maharashtra is leading from the front, contributing Rs 9.82 crore in preview sales, nearly five times the Rs 2.08 crore that the original film earned on its opening day. Karnataka has also shown massive growth, with Rs 6.57 crore in advance bookings compared to Rs 1.05 crore for the first installment.

Metro cities continue to drive the bulk of the collections. Delhi-NCR alone has recorded Rs 7.06 crore for the Hindi 2D version in previews, a sharp jump from Rs 2.19 crore previously. Mumbai isn’t far behind, bringing in Rs 6.38 crore, almost four times the Rs 1.35 crore opening day figure of Dhurandhar.

Backed by a powerful ensemble featuring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan, and directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel has positioned itself as a true event film. The scale, reach, and response suggest that this is not just a franchise sequel but a full-blown box office phenomenon.

If this momentum holds, Dhurandhar 2 is on track to deliver one of the biggest openings in recent Hindi cinema history. More importantly, it could cement Ranveer Singh’s position among the industry’s top box office forces, potentially placing him alongside Shah Rukh Khan in delivering consecutive Rs 1000 crore blockbusters within a short span.
