Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is clearly enjoying a dream run at the box office, even though it saw a slight slowdown on its second day.
After an explosive start and strong paid previews, the Aditya Dhar directorial continues to pull crowds, showing that audience excitement is still very much intact.
On day two, the film earned Rs 80.72 crore across 20,125 shows in India. The Hindi version did most of the heavy lifting, bringing in Rs 78.94 crore net with a solid 64.3% occupancy from 19,025 shows.
The response in regional markets, however, was more muted. The Telugu version managed Rs 1.30 crore with 35.0% occupancy from 700 shows, while the Tamil version added Rs 0.44 crore with 27.0% occupancy across 356 shows. Kannada and Malayalam versions contributed very little, collecting Rs 0.03 crore (45.0% occupancy, 20 shows) and Rs 0.01 crore (13.0% occupancy, 24 shows), respectively. Overall, theatres saw an average occupancy of around 62.6% on day two, taking the film’s total for the period to Rs 102.55 crore.
Despite the minor dip, the bigger picture looks extremely strong. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is on track to cross Rs 250 crore in India by Saturday. So far, it has amassed Rs 269.39 crore gross and Rs 226.27 crore net domestically.
What’s particularly impressive is how quickly it has beaten several big films—crossing Rs 150 crore early on Friday and overtaking the lifetime collections of Salman Khan’s Sikandar and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab. It has also gone past Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter (Rs 212 crore net), and now sits just behind War (Rs 236 crore net).
Globally too, the film has made a massive impact. “Dhurandhar: The Revenge collected Rs. 186 crore approx on its opening day worldwide. The split is Rs. 137 crore (Rs. 114 crore nett) in India and Rs. 49 crore (USD 5.30 million) overseas. That includes Rs. 65 crore of previews, Rs. 18 crore from overseas and Rs. 47 crore from India.”
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is a high-stakes geopolitical action thriller starring Ranveer Singh as Indian spy Hamza Ali Mazari, who infiltrates Pakistan’s terror-criminal network.
The film also stars R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.
