Dadasaheb Phalke awards to complete a decade in october

This October, Mumbai will play host to one of Indian cinema’s most cherished celebrations. The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards (DPIFF) 2025 returns on the 29th and 30th of October, and this year it carries a special weight — the festival is stepping into its 10th year.

What began as a tribute to the Father of Indian Cinema, Late Shri Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, has grown into a landmark platform where legends, emerging talents, and storytellers from across the world converge.

Over the last decade, DPIFF has built a reputation as more than just an award night. It has become a meeting point of artistry and influence, where film icons share space with young creators and government dignitaries. Last year’s edition sparkled with the presence of Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nayanthara, Rani Mukerji, Shahid Kapoor and many others, proving once again that the festival is as much about glamour as it is about meaningful cinema.

This milestone year promises to be even more spectacular. Audiences can expect star-studded performances, heartfelt tributes, and a cinematic journey through India’s diverse regions, from North to South, echoing the richness of our film heritage.

A highlight will once again be the Global Short Film Festival, which has become a vibrant space for new voices from across the world, reminding us that stories can travel across borders and languages.

There is also growing excitement around whispers that renowned international personalities may join the festivities this year, signalling DPIFF’s growing stature as a global stage for storytelling.

Reflecting on the upcoming celebration, Mr Abhishek Mishra, CEO of DPIFF, said: “As we step into our 10th year, the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards will celebrate the universal magic of cinema like never before. This edition will be a grand gathering where legends, emerging creators, and audiences come together to honour the stories that move the world.”

As the countdown begins, DPIFF 2025 is shaping up to be more than an awards ceremony. It is poised to be a moment of reflection and celebration, honouring a century-old cinematic legacy while shining a spotlight on the voices that will carry it forward.
