Soubin Shahir, a Malayalam actor who became well-known across the country thanks to the hit film Manjummel Boys, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute. His request to travel overseas to attend the upcoming SIIMA Awards in Dubai on September 5 and 6 was recently denied by the Ernakulam court.
As a well-known actor who represents Malayalam cinema in the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi industries, Soubin's legal team contended that the industry would be honored to have him attend such a global event.
They also promised the court that Soubin would immediately return to India following the ceremony because he is a responsible professional. He was unable to leave the country, though, as the court denied his petition.
The Soubin Cheating Case
Manjummel Boys, which Soubin co-produced with his father and another partner, is the source of the controversy. An investor named Siraj filed a complaint alleging that he had invested ₹7 crore in the movie with the understanding that he would get 40% of the earnings.
The complainant claimed he was not given his fair share of the profits, even though the movie was a huge box office hit. The Ernakulam police filed a cheating case against Soubin and other participants in response to his complaint.
Current Projects
In terms of acting, Soubin most recently starred in Lokesh Kanagaraj's action thriller Coolie, starring Rajinikanth.
He portrayed Dayal in the movie, which also featured cameos from Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan.

The Manjummel Boys Phenomenon
Manjummel Boys, which was released earlier this year, became one of the most talked-about Malayalam movies of the year. Soubin co-starred with Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Deepak Parambol, and Arun Kurian in the adventure thriller, which was directed by Chidambaram.
The film achieved both critical and commercial success, with an impressive 8.2 IMDb rating. You can stream it right now on JioHotstar.
Success and controversy now seem to go hand in hand as the legal case progresses, and Soubin's inability to attend the SIIMA Awards adds yet another twist to his career path.
