Social media influencer Misha Agarwal sadly passed away on April 24, 2025, 2 days before her 25th birthday. Now her family has disclosed the reason of her death and confirmed that she took her own life.

Misha's family took to her account on Instagram on April 30 and disclosed that she died by suicide. According to their statement, Misha was depressed as a result of her declining social media following.

They revealed that Misha had dedicated her entire life to Instagram with the goal of achieving one million followers. She even made this goal the lock screen on her phone because she was so committed to it.

Sharing a video of her phone's lock screen and their official statement about her cause of death, her family stated,  “My little baby sister had built her world around Instagram and her followers, with a single goal of reaching 1 million followers and gaining loving fans. When her followers started decreasing, she became distraught and felt worthless. Since April, she had been deeply depressed, often hugging me and crying, saying, ‘Jijja, what will I do if my followers decrease? My career will be over."

“I reminded her of her talents, her LLB degree, and her preparation for PCSJ, telling her that she’ll become a judge one day and doesn’t need to worry about her career. Unfortunately, my little sister didn’t listen and became so consumed by Instagram and followers that she left our world forever. Tragically, she became so overwhelmed that she took her own life, leaving our family devastated," the statement continued.

Her family recalled attempting to reassure her that Instagram was merely a portion of her life and not its entirety. It wouldn't be the end of the world, they reminded her, even if things didn't work out online. On Friday, April 25, Misha Agarwal's family confirmed the heartbreaking news of her passing in a heartfelt statement posted on her official Instagram page.
