Sameera Reddy returns to the big screen

Sameera Reddy is gearing up for her highly anticipated horror thriller, Chimni, and the makers have just increased the excitement with the release of the gripping teaser.

Chimni teaser opens with Sameera’s character walking with a lamp in the dark with a suspicious expression on her face. She then sees a creepy hand of the devil coming out of the well.

A voice in the background says, “Pishaach apna khel phir se shuru karoga, ek jayega… dusra aayega… Kaam Krodh lobh aur ahenkaar ko paane ki koshish karega (The devil will start their game again, one will go… another will come… will try to gain lust, anger, greed and ego).”

However, the teaser concluded with the devil holding Sameera’s hands and trying to pull her. Sameera portrays the intense role of Kali, fighting against a pishach.

Sameera Reddy has recently reflected on her character and said, “I was drawn to Kali because of her mysterious aura. What excited me most was portraying her across three life stages—from a young bride to a mother, and later in her 60s.”

She added, “Each phase had emotional depth, and switching between them on set was a real challenge. I truly enjoyed diving into her many layers, and I think audiences will find the story both gripping and emotional. It’s definitely an edge-of-the-seat experience.”

However, director Gagan Puri reflected on Sameera’s casting and revealed, “For Sameera’s character, initially we were hunting for a unique character who was mature, intense, and had a village look, like healthy women.”

He further revealed that his casting director suggested Sameera’s name, and at first, he had to think it over, whether he could go ahead or not, because he hadn’t seen her in older avatars.

Gagan then mentioned that he had suddenly watched her Instagram Reel and thought she was a perfect fit. He added that when it came to the look test, he was almost 100% sure that everything would go smoothly. He concluded by praising Sameera’s performance and said that “perfection” was a small word to describe it.

Produced by Shah Creative Entertainment, the upcoming film features an ensemble cast including Prachi Thakur, Shardul Rana, Aditya Kumar, Preeti Chaudhary, and Saurabh Agnihotri.

Chimni is touted to be a supernatural thriller and explores the chilling story of a grieving mother in a cursed Chanderi palace who battles a malevolent spirit possessing her daughter.

However, she witnesses a disturbing web of supernatural horror and human vice, tied to a spine-tingling fetus in fetu mystery, when she tries to unravel the mystery. The makers are yet to announce Chimni release date.
