Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna's highly anticipated film, Chhaava was finally released on 14th February, 2025. Now, it's time to have a look how much the film earned on its opening day.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Vicky Kaushal's period drama tells the story of Maratha king Sambhaji, played by Vicky Kaushal.

As per Sacnilk, the film had a good start on its day 1 with earning Rs 31 crore net in all languages in India.

Reports by Sacnilk show that, the occupancy in cinema halls got increased as the day ended, starting with 30.51% occupancy in the morning shows, the movie saw a modest rise in the afternoon with 34.50%. The evening shows saw further growth, reaching 40.51%, and the movie peaked during the night shows with a high occupancy rate of 62.55%.

As per earlier reports, Chhaava sold close to 5 lakh tickets across India in advance booking for its opening day.

The above records show that Chhaava has now become Vicky Kaushal's highest-grossing opener, surpassing the Rs 8.20 crore opening of Uri: The Surgical Strike. Additionally, it has secured the title of the biggest opening film of 2025, surpassing Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which had earned Rs 15.30 crore on its opening day last month.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying Maharani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb. The ensemble cast also includes Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta. Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, the film officially released in cinemas on February 14, 2025.

A part of Moneycontrol.com review read, "Vicky Kaushal embodies the might and valour of Sambhaji Maharaj. He displays a range of emotions, from fierce determination in battle to a touching tenderness when he witnesses a mother's love for her young son (which he longs for). To me, one of the film's most iconic moments is the intense fight scene between Sambhaji and a lion, a testament to his bravery in the opening scenes."

Earlier reports suggested that Chhaava has been leaked online just hours after its release.

According to various sources, the full film, which runs for two hours and thirty-five minutes, is now accessible through search engines. It has been uploaded on several piracy websites like Filmy*****, Movie*****, and Tamilr******, offering multiple resolutions including 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, 240p, and HD quality.

Chhaava, a period drama that took over a year to produce and had a budget of approximately Rs 110 crore, faced a significant threat to its potential earnings. Many viewers are choosing to watch the pirated version rather than purchasing tickets to see the film in theaters.
