In the latest episode of Celebrity MasterChef, the contestants faced a unique challenge: crafting the perfect potato accordion while adding their own spice mix. Nikki, having won the previous challenge, was granted immunity and did not have to participate in the task.
Gaurav Khanna, Rajiv Adatia, Archana Gautam, Tejasswi Prakash, and Faisal Shaikh took on the challenge. Chef Ranveer started by demonstrating the ideal accordion cut, emphasizing that the final product should have at least 25-28 cuts and stretch to seven inches when pulled apart.
As the challenge commenced, the contestants encountered several difficulties in perfecting their potato accordions. Gaurav and Tejasswi were the first to master the technique, impressing the judges.
Meanwhile, Archana and Rajiv struggled. Archana eventually managed to get it right after a few attempts, but Rajiv’s accordion kept falling apart. Seeing his frustration, Chef Ranveer suggested using chopsticks for better precision. However, Rajiv still faced difficulties, even resorting to poking each layer with a stick. Chef Ranveer stepped in to guide him.
Finally, Rajiv successfully created a potato accordion with an astonishing 43 cuts—setting a new record on the show. Even Chef Vikas was impressed by its precision. However, Rajiv completed the cut at the 29th minute, leaving him with only one minute to fry it. Despite his impressive technique, his potato remained uncooked.
When it came time for judging, the chefs refused to taste Rajiv’s dish. Chef Ranveer pointed out, "Had you heated the oil earlier, the potato would have fried in time." Chef Vikas added, "Your spice mix was also rushed, which is evident in the dish." While others impressed the judges, Rajiv’s lack of timing cost him the challenge.
