Celebrity MasterChef contestant Nikki Tamboli trolled for calling Rajiv Adatia 'angrez', says her comment was a 'joke'

Former Bigg Boss contestant Nikki Tamboli, who is now winning hearts by cooking delicious dishes on TV screens, has landed herself in trouble over a casual remark.

Nikkil has issued a statement to clear a misunderstanding regarding a joke with fellow contestant Rajiv Adatia on Celebrity MasterChef.

Nikki addressed Rajiv Adatia as 'angrez' during one of their conversations and the netizens called her out for being 'racist'.

But the actress has quickly clarified that this comment was made in a light hearted manner and it was a fun conversation between two friends.

The comment got highlighted when during a fun banter between with Rajiv Adatia, Nikki called him 'angrez'.

Some of the users called her racist and others said Nikki should think before making such casual comment.

Nikki issued a statement in which she clearly said that the comments was only used as a joke between two friends.

She further said that it was never her intention to hurt anyone. Nikki also wrote that they both (she and Rajiv) laughed about the misunderstanding.

"Sometimes, a fun moment between friends gets misunderstood, and that’s exactly what happened here. We always joke around, and this was no different. There was never any intention to offend or hurt anyone. Rajiv and I talked about it, and we actually laughed at how much it was blown out of proportion. Everything is absolutely fine between us. Let’s not turn a harmless joke into something it was never meant to be," her statement read.

Nikki and Rajiv are contestants of Celebrity MasterChef which airs on TV.
