Caterina Murino, a former Bond girl, announced with joy that she is 47 years old and expecting her first child.

In a candid interview with Gala magazine, the Casino Royale actress talked candidly about her pregnancy journey, calling it "a magical moment" after a protracted and emotionally draining path to motherhood.

Currently preparing to give birth to a son with her long-time partner, French lawyer Édouard Rigaud, Murino is well-known for her role as Solange opposite Daniel Craig's James Bond in the 2006 blockbuster.

At the end of the summer, shortly before Murino's 48th birthday in September, the couple, who have been dating for eight years and reside in Montmartre, Paris, are expecting their first child.

Reflecting on her path to pregnancy, Caterina candidly revealed, “At my age, I had to ask medicine to help nature,” referring to her decision to undergo in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).

She added, “You don't always decide when the right time to become a mother comes.” The actress also disclosed that she suffered two miscarriages before conceiving, calling the process “trying,” yet ultimately fulfilling.

Despite the challenges, Caterina said her pregnancy has been going smoothly: “I haven't had any discomfort, no diabetes, no insomnia,” she told Gala, expressing gratitude for her current well-being.

Speaking with Italian outlet Costa Smeralda on 2 July, Murino highlighted her sense of responsibility in raising a child today. “I feel I am living a magical moment. Soon I will become a mother, and I believe we all have a huge responsibility today: raise conscious human beings,” she said.

On July 4, Caterina also thanked Gala and the crew behind her maternity photo shoot on Instagram as she broke the news to her fans.

She used her platform to promote pet adoption and warn against abandoning animals because of pregnancy, travel, or health issues in a second post on July 6th that showcased her growing baby bump in partnership with Le magazine 30 Millions d'amis.
