Ayushmann Khurrana's Thamma, which lit up screens this Diwali, has become one of the biggest spectacles in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

Fans were already buzzing with excitement over rumours of Varun Dhawan’s return as Bhediya, and now new details reveal the scale and ambition behind his epic appearance.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the team spared no expense for the much-talked-about Betaal vs Bhediya sequence and spent a staggering Rs 20 crore solely on that portion of the film. A source close to the production was quoted saying, “The makers decided to go all out with the scene of Betaal vs Bhediya.

Hence, a mind-boggling amount of Rs 20 crore was spent just on that sequence. Producer Dinesh Vijan was clear – the fight scene should have top-class VFX that should stun the viewers. After all, the scene is very crucial for the future of the universe.”

The sequence was crafted to be a visual extravaganza that would serve as a key turning point for the expanding Maddock universe. Given its significance, Bhediya director Amar Kaushik decided to take a hands-on approach.

“Amar Kaushik, the founder and mentor of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, serves as the producer of Thamma. But for the crucial scene of Bhediya, he was present on the set to supervise. A lot was at stake; so, Amar decided to be present when the scene was being filmed. Thamma’s director, Aditya Sarpotdar, was informed about it in advance and he understood Amar’s point of view. He was more than happy to have Amar on the set and was also more than happy to take his valuable inputs,” the source added.

Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal, Thamma pushed the envelope in visual storytelling.

The climactic Betaal vs Bhediya face-off reportedly left audiences awestruck, seamlessly blending high-end visual effects with Amar Kaushik’s signature blend of humour and horror.

With Thamma establishing the next phase of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, the crossover has set the stage for even bigger, interconnected stories.
