Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma has already opened for advance booking days ahead of its grand Diwali release, and the early response has been impressive.
According to industry trade website, the film has so far collected around Rs 5.03 crore, but the majority, approximately Rs 3.4 crore, comes from block bookings.
In terms of organic ticket sales, the film has earned Rs 1.63 crore from selling over 57,000 tickets, with the maximum bookings coming from Maharashtra. With two more days left before the official release, the film is expected to see a major jump in collections, potentially opening between Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore, which is a solid start for introducing new characters in its cinematic universe.
Thamma is set to have a total of 10,424 shows across India. The Hindi version will feature 10,039 2D shows, 100 IMAX 2D shows, and 91 4DX shows, while the Telugu version will have 194 shows nationwide.
Speaking about the early response, Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Executive Director of PVR INOX Limited, said, “We’re witnessing an extraordinary response to Thamma’s advance bookings across PVR INOX cinemas, setting the tone for a truly blockbuster Diwali. As India’s first vampire love story, the film has captured the imagination of audiences — the teaser has gone viral, the music is trending, and the excitement is unlike anything we’ve seen recently. With a stellar ensemble cast and Maddock Films’ signature mix of horror, humour, and heart, Thamma promises to redefine the horror-comedy genre. We’re thrilled to bring this cinematic experience to audiences this festive season and are expecting packed houses throughout the Diwali weekend.”
Despite being a festive release, ticket sales have been modest so far. As of 11 a.m. on Sunday, the Hindi 2D version sold 57,417 tickets, while the IMAX 2D and 4DX versions recorded 1,090 and 311 tickets, respectively.
