The release of Tere Ishk Mein has been one of the most closely watched moments of the year, and when the film finally hit cinemas, it arrived with the weight of sky-high expectations.

With Dhanush and Kriti Sanon leading the cast and an intense trailer that had fans hooked from the start, audiences were eager to see whether the romance-drama would live up to its promise. And judging by its first day at the box office, it certainly has.

As per a trading website, Tere Ishk Mein earned an impressive ₹16.50 crore on its opening day. For a romantic drama, this is no small feat—it has now become the second-biggest opener in the genre this year, surpassed only by Saiyaara, which holds the top position with ₹21.5 crore.

What makes this achievement even sweeter is that the film has outperformed some of the year’s major Bollywood releases.

Big names like Jolly LLB 3 (₹12 crore) and Sitaare Zameen Par (₹10.70 crore) have been left behind, placing Tere Ishk Mein comfortably ahead in the race. And for Dhanush, this marks a personal career high—it is officially the biggest Bollywood opening of his journey so far.

The film also marks Dhanush’s return to Hindi cinema after several years. His partnership with director Aanand L. Rai has been a memorable one, beginning with Raanjhanaa, which opened at ₹5.60 crore net and went on to gain immense love.

Their second collaboration, Atrangi Re, went directly to OTT in 2021. With Tere Ishk Mein, the duo reunites, bringing back the raw emotional depth that first connected them with audiences.
