On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 5, actor Govinda’s wife, Ssunita Ahuja, visited a Gurudwara to seek blessings. Several paparazzi videos captured her warmly greeting fans and extending festive wishes as she exited the shrine.
In one of the videos, she was heard saying, “Satnam Waheguru, Guru Purab ki bohot bohot badhiya sabko (Guru Purab's hearty wishes to everyone), wishing everyone on the sacred day.
Govinda and Ssunita's son Yashvardhan Ahuja was also spotted visiting a Gurudwara on Wednesday.
Ssunita's remarks regarding Govinda's long-time family priest in a podcast have put the couple in the news lately.
On November 4, Govinda addressed the controversy by releasing a video statement in which he expressed his profound respect for Pandit Mukesh Shukla and apologised for his wife's comments.
“I have been consulting Pandit Mukesh Shukla for years, and I respect him immensely. His father was also our family’s priest for a long time. My wife made disparaging comments about him on the podcast, which I strongly condemn. My heartfelt apologies,” Govinda said. He further added, “Pandit Mukesh ji and his family have stood by me through many difficult times, and I have great respect for him.”
The controversy began when Ssunita appeared on Bigg Boss 13 fame Paras Chhabra’s podcast, where she spoke openly about her husband’s faith in astrologers.
During the chat, when Paras mentioned that not all pandits have good intentions, Ssunita responded, “We also have one in our house — Govinda’s pandit. He’s the same, always doing pujas and charging Rs 2 lakhs. I tell Govinda that he should pray on his own because the rituals these people do won’t make a difference.”
Despite frequent rumours about tension in their marriage, Govinda and Ssunita have repeatedly dismissed any speculation about separation, maintaining that they remain together and supportive of each other.
