‘SRK literally exists’: Netizens slam Spirit makers for calling Prabhas ‘India’s Biggest Superstar’

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan are up in arms after the makers of Spirit, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film starring Prabhas, described the Telugu actor as “India’s Biggest Superstar” in their teaser. The title card, unveiled on Prabhas’ birthday (October 24), has sparked a heated social media clash between SRK and Prabhas fanbases, each defending their idol’s supremacy.

The teaser for Spirit was meant to be a celebratory reveal for fans of Prabhas. But it was the opening line of the promo—referring to him as “India’s Biggest Superstar”—that grabbed attention more than the visuals themselves. Traditionally known as the “Rebel Star”, the actor’s new tag did not sit well with Shah Rukh Khan’s loyalists, who felt the title undermined SRK’s unmatched stature in Indian cinema.

Reacting to the clip, many SRK fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their displeasure. One user wrote, “India’s Biggest Superstar? Nice try, but there’s only one Badshah who rules hearts from Mumbai to Morocco — #SRK. Legacy isn’t declared in posters; it’s earned over decades of magic, charm, and global love.” Another user shared screenshots of Google search results for “India’s Biggest Superstar,” pointing out that SRK’s name appears on top, with the caption, “No one is bigger than Shah Rukh Khan in India.” A third user commented wryly, “No disrespect to Prabhas, but ‘India’s biggest superstar’? SRK literally exists.”

Some even shared memes and throwback clips from SRK’s global fan events, from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa lighting up for Pathaan to massive overseas screenings of Jawan and Dunki. “Legacy isn’t about posters; it’s about presence,” read another viral tweet.

Meanwhile, Prabhas’ fans were quick to counterattack. They argued that the Baahubali star’s pan-India and international appeal easily justifies the label. One fan wrote, “SRK? The guy whose last four movies needed cameos, remakes, or 500 crore budgets just to break even? Prabhas dropped Salaar like a cultural nuke—zero Bollywood safety net, pure South swagger, still printing money worldwide.” Another user added, “India’s Biggest Superstar box office record se banta hai, jo Prabhas ke paas hai.”

As for Spirit, the film is touted to feature Prabhas in a never-before-seen avatar—a fierce police officer who takes on a mafia syndicate. Originally, Deepika Padukone was set to star opposite him, but after her exit due to “failed negotiations,” Triptii Dimri joined the cast, marking her Telugu debut. With Sandeep Reddy Vanga at the helm, known for Kabir Singh and Animal, expectations are sky-high.
