Siddharth Anand reacts to King's look being compared to F1

Ever since the first look of Shah Rukh Khan’s highly awaited film ‘King’ dropped on his 60th birthday, the internet has been buzzing non-stop.

The glaring similarity between SRK's appearance and Brad Pitt's in the 2025 Hollywood film "F1" was noticed by both fans and critics.

Images of the two celebrities wearing a blue shirt and tan jacket were widely shared on social media, igniting discussions about whether the photos were a daring "copy" or a light-hearted "inspiration."

With timelines full of posts dissecting every little aspect of Shah Rukh's attire, the comparisons swiftly gained widespread attention.

While some fans embraced the homage, others accused the team of lacking originality. Amid all the chatter, director Siddharth Anand finally spoke up — but in a way that was as witty as it was subtle.

Siddharth's response came after noticing a viral tweet poking fun at Bollywood’s often overzealous critics.

The tweet read: “Funny logic by haters these days. If Bollywood movie has:-Fighter Jet - Copy of Top Gun, Ship - Copy of Titanic, Same dress code - Copy of F1, Orange Dress - Anti-Hindu, Their IQ level is like - buffering since 1947.”

The post included a collage showing Shah Rukh in ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ (2017), Brad Pitt in ‘F1’, and the viral still from ‘King’, perfectly capturing the humour of the comparisons.

Siddharth Anand responded with laughing emojis followed by the “okay” hand emoji, signalling that he was in on the joke.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan himself opened up about his role in ‘King’ during a fan meet on his birthday.

He said, “I just feel, film ke andar naa kuchh interesting agar hum nahi karenge, toh wohi shots ke andar hero aayega, do gaane gaayega, do fight karega, chala jaayega. Toh, King ka jo character hai, bohot hi interesting hai. Siddharth aur Sujoy ne bohot prem se likha hai. Aur usme bohot saari buraaiyaan hain. Khooni hai, logo ko maar deta hai aur poochta bhi nahi, ‘kitne the kabhi poocha nahi’. I think storytelling ke liye, aur isliye nahi ki youngsters ab filmein dekhte hain, I think bohot zaroori hai ki mere jaise hero log jo hain, woh alag alag roles play karein. Kuchh inspiring ho, kuchh aspiring ho, kuchh comic ho, kuchh romantic ho."

SRK’s words reveal his excitement for a character that’s layered and unpredictable, while Anand’s playful social media response shows that sometimes it’s best to laugh off online debates.

With anticipation building, ‘King’ promises not just style and action, but a story that keeps audiences hooked from start to finish.
