Veteran Bollywood personality Zarine Khan, wife of actor and filmmaker Sanjay Khan and mother of interior designer Sussanne Khan and actor Zayed Khan, passed away this morning at her Mumbai residence. She was 81 years old and had been battling age-related ailments for some time.

Zarine Khan was known for her grace, elegance, and quiet strength. She is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan, and their four children Sussanne Khan, Farah Khan Ali, Simone Arora, and Zayed Khan.

Her last Instagram post, shared on her birthday in July this year, now stands as a fond memory of a life surrounded by love and family. The post was a photo dump from her birthday celebration, capturing moments of warmth and joy. The pictures included a shot with a cake, another with her son Zayed Khan, a cheerful moment with Sussanne Khan, and a heartwarming family portrait featuring Sanjay Khan, Farah Khan Ali, Simone Arora and others. She simply captioned it, “Happiness ❤️”.

Her daughter Sussanne had also celebrated the occasion with an emotional post on Instagram, calling her mother her biggest inspiration. “Mama Mia. My My.. what an amazing Mama you are... all that I do and all that I create in my life have to do with the way you formed my heart, my mind, and my grit,”* Sussanne had written, adding, *“I am so honoured and grateful to be your little girl.”

Zarine Khan shared a love story with Sanjay Khan that began decades ago. The two famously met at a bus stop before getting married in 1966. Beyond her identity as a star wife, Zarine also had her own brief acting stint in Hindi cinema, appearing in films like Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali.
