Sajid Khan to launch Govinda’s son Yashvardhan in romantic comedy: Report

Filmmaker Sajid Khan is reportedly preparing for a comeback after seven years, with a new romantic comedy that may mark the Bollywood debut of Govinda’s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja. The project, currently in discussion with Zee Studios, also features Laapataa Ladies breakout star Nitanshi Goel and South Indian actor Krithi Shetty in key roles.

Sajid Khan, once known for directing hit comedies like Heyy Babyy and Housefull 2, last worked on Housefull 4 in 2019 before being removed midway and replaced by Farhad Samji.

Since then, the director has largely stayed away from the limelight, following multiple allegations of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement that derailed his career and public image.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Sajid has been approached by Zee Studios to helm the upcoming romantic comedy. While the filmmaker hasn’t officially signed on yet, the studio is said to be keen on bringing him aboard, believing the film’s humor-driven script aligns perfectly with his signature comic style. “Sajid has been approached by the studio, but he hasn’t said yes yet. The studio heads are keen to have him helm the film as the comedy elements are right up his alley,” a source told the publication.

The film could also serve as a major platform for Yashvardhan Ahuja, who has been waiting for a strong debut vehicle. The young actor reportedly has another film lined up with Phantom Studios, but this Zee Studios project is expected to go on floors first if things fall into place. “Yashvardhan has another project with Phantom Studios, but he is likely to start shooting for this first. Sajid was earlier to direct a film with John Abraham, but that didn’t work out,” the source added.
