Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has addressed long‑running fan speculations about a sequel to the much‑loved 2013 romantic drama Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, saying that the original film “had the perfect ending” and doesn’t necessarily need a part two.

The actor shared his thoughts during an Instagram Live session with fans on Valentine’s Day, when questions about revisiting the story of Bunny (his character) and Naina were raised.

While acknowledging the enduring popularity of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which has remained a favourite over a decade after its release, Ranbir said that its storyline concluded in a satisfying way that doesn’t require a direct sequel.

The actor said, “Lot of you guys want part 2 but there’s so many new movies, new directors, and new ideas to work with. I think Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had the perfect end. So I don’t think it warrants a part 2."

However, the Animal actor was careful not to shut down fans completely, he suggested that while a continuation of the specific characters isn’t planned, there could be another film in the same genre in the future.

“But maybe another film would come, of a similar genre, which you guys would enjoy too,” he added, hinting that the spirit of romantic comedies like YJHD could be revisited — though not with the same story arc.

Ranbir also took the opportunity to share updates on his upcoming projects, including Love & War and potential work on Brahmastra: Part Two, reaffirming that he’s focused on a diverse slate of films in varying genres.

The comments come amid renewed interest in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani following its re‑release in theatres last year, which reignited nostalgia and fan discussions about the beloved on‑screen characters played not just by Ranbir and Deepika Padukone, but also Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin.

Ranbir Kapoor’s most recent theatrical release was the intense action drama Animal directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga in 2023, followed by a brief cameo appearance in Aryan Khan’s The Bads Of Bollywood in 2025 as audiences eagerly awaited his return to larger roles.

Looking ahead, Ranbir is gearing up for a big year on the big screen with two major films lined up: he will portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana, co‑starring Sai Pallavi and Yash in a project that is shaping up to be one of Bollywood’s most ambitious cinematic ventures in 2026, and he will also star alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period romance Love & War.
