Priyanka Chopra has recently celebrated Diwali with her husband Nick Jonas and daughter Malti Marie, continuing to carry her traditions despite living in a foreign country.
Just a day before the big festivity, Priyanka hosted a Diwali lunch on October 19. The actress’ Choti Diwali lunch party was all about festive glam and delicious delicacy, which was also kid-friendly.
Event’s chef PriaVanda took to her Instagram and shared a series of pics from the preparation of the party. She also shared a picture with Priyanka, detailing what was at the party.
She penned in the caption, “Choti Diwali to remember! We had the absolute honor of catering Priyanka Chopra’s Diwali luncheon today — and it was a total blast!”
She added, “From our signature street-food favorites to a playful kid-friendly Diwali menu (think mini kathi rolls, butter-chicken sliders, mango lassi smoothies + even a mini dosa live station!), every bite was packed with flavor & fun.”
Talking about Priyanka, the chef continued, “Priyanka was the most gracious host, and seeing everyone love the food made our Diwali shine a little brighter.”
Following the Choti Diwali lunch, Priyanka performed puja at her home during Diwali. The actress also explained the meaning of traditional elements such as diyas, rangoli, and Indian sweets.
She said, “Every year, I make sure to introduce each of the beautiful Desi traditions I grew up with. We have a lovely Mandir at home where we perform Puja on Diwali, and many of my non-Desi friends join in, which makes it extra special.”
Priyanka makes sure her guests comprehend the festival's deeper meaning by highlighting the importance of each ritual.
The actress elaborated, “I tell my friends about the significance of lighting diyas and the stories of good triumphing over evil. We decorate with colorful rangoli, exchange Indian sweets, and I gift beautiful Indian clothes to many of them so they can experience the culture firsthand.”
For Priyanka Chopra, Diwali is a chance to promote cross-cultural interaction in addition to being a family holiday. She explained how the customs are observed by her husband's family.
She noted, “With Nick’s family, we blend traditions. They love learning the songs, the prayers, and even the special foods we prepare. Diwali becomes this beautiful celebration of togetherness and mutual respect.”
Her friends and family from various cultural backgrounds can now enjoy Indian festivals in a genuine way, thanks to this method. Achar and mithai, two traditional Indian snacks, are served to guests, giving the festivities a more authentic feel.
